The Climate We Live In. An Alliance Against the Far Right
The next conference of the European Alliance of Academies entitles The Climate We Live In. An Alliance Against the Far Right takes place on 25-26 March 2024 at Akademie der Künste in Berlin.
Two months before the European elections, members of the European Alliance of Academies are sending a clear signal in favour of a democratic Europe and against a political climate in which right-wing extremism, antisemitism and racism are on the rise again.
The freedom of art is an important asset of democracy, which the members of the European Alliance of Academies have been campaigning for since 2020. The conference will focus on artists affected by repression from various European countries. They will bring their art to the European public and pass on their experiences to political decision-makers.

7:30pm @ Haus für Poesie
An Evening for Hungarian Poetry Live
In solidarity with Szépírók Társásagá, the Hungarian Society of Writers, Réka Borda, Zoltán Danyi, Mónika Ferencz and Dénes Krusovzky – all members of the Society – will read their poems at cooperation partner Haus für Poesie.
The selected poems address issues such as identity and otherness, migration and longing for homeland, and political authorities through a grotesque depiction of their privileged place. The shadow of Hungarian past is present in the turmoil of an anthropocentric landscape. Different imaginaries of homeland are infused by personal memories of and the desire to reconnect with nature.
A German translation is made available.
